Work and success goes hand in hand The history of pains and success
The beginning and
the first success
72-77 The gymnastics
group in Detva was officially founded in 1973 but Detva girls performed this
sport few years before as vocational leisure activity. Under Darina Krkosova´s,
Anna Lakotova´s, Eva Scirankova´s and Ing. Viera Zifcakova´s leadership
trainees started to perfom difficult excersises. The first gymnastics
championship took place in II.primary school gym on 9th March 1972. Detva girls made themself known I gymnastic circles by the
participation Regional Championship and Slovak Championship. And thanks to
trainer Zifcak a new gymnastics group came to begin.MuDr.Drahomir Marecek became
its first chairman and Ing. Ján
Becherbecame the secretary. Three trainers: Viera Zlatonová and married couple
Zifcakworked there with 11 trainees. Just since its
beginning gymnastics group PPS
Detva became interesting for sport experts in Success continue
77-78 Every next year
Detva gymnasts kept their prominent rank in Slovak gymnastics. In 1977 that time
3 years old Eva Marecková won the title Champion
ofChampion of CSSR in women´s category by which she became the youngest
women championin CSSR gymnastics history. In 1978
represented CSSR on Europe Youth Championship only gymnasts from Detva- Eva
Marecková, Jana Labaková and Martina Malusová. Two years later were
these girls members of Czechoslovak Olympic team. The Olympic Games in Moskvain
1980 where they gained fourth place. In the competition of
individuals E. Marecková won 12th and J . Labáková11th place in the
floor exercise. Detva girls shocked proffesional public by their almost
unbelievable results. As the first in the republic they started to perform ´cukahara´somersault
on
balance beam, quadruple screws, double somersault. Mareckováas the first
performed the loop. These were the reasons why a new centre of top performacce
youth sport was founded in 1976. A year later a new special gym
tohelp improving of training process was commenced. And girls had success
again. In CSSR Championship in 1981 E. Marecková and J. Labaková won for Detva
all five Champion titles. Eva gained 4 gold and 1 bronz and Jana
won 1 gold and 4 bronzmedals. The next
generation 80ties The beganning of
80ties ment also beginning of the
next gymnastics generation. Except experienced representatives The member of
Detva active trainees was forty. There were The Centre of top performance sport-
trainer Zifcáková, Training Youth Centre- trainer Ing. Viera Zlatonová later
Mgr.Ján Zifcák, The School Sport Centre- trainer Hana Zifcáková. The group
was governed by 7 member team. Since 1983 was the secretary for the years
1976-1993. The gymnastics
groups had their representatives in all Slovak representative teams beginning
with women and ending with schoolgirls. The number of representative
participations of Detva gymnasts at international tournaments was over 150. The
competitioners and trainers took part in top gymnastics competitions- Olympic
Games, World and European Championship, World Univerziad and Druzba Competitions.
On their representative starts they visited 23 countries of three
continents. In 1985
Czechoslovak Junior Championship took place in Detva. . Katka Cmarková fought
out silver medal in the vault and in the floor exercise and Diana Sablatúrováin
balance beam. And the next generation so far juniors: Katka Cmarková, Adriana
Slezáková, sisters Zuzka and Katka Krekánová, Jana Kroupová and others,
later M. Krnácová and Stanislava Harmadiová owned tens of medals from Slovak
an Czechoslovak Championship and International Cup Tournament.Mária Krnácová
was member of Czechoslovak team at World Championship
in Switzerland in 1987. Malignant illness and death of Vierka Zifcáková
and subsequently death of her husband Ján Zifcák tragically touched
the training process. Despite the
ettempts of the others trainers including mature children of Zifcák- Ján and
Hana the premature death of Detva gymnastics founders reflected
in stagnation and depression. Also the changes in region´s economic
situation enforced by the change of political regime in 1989 was not profitable
for Detva´s gymnastics. The state donations rapidly fell and so far the main
sponsor PPS Detva completely stopped financing the club because of their own bad
economic situacion. A lot of changes of this period was engagement of trainers
pair from Ukraine - Nadyia and Mykola Havryshchuk and the fact that the club continued in spite of big
finance problems with help of
the chairman Ján Mravec. Another change in the leading team at the end of
1996 ( PhDr. K. Pazmányová, PhDr. J. Kucbelová,V. Zlatonová A. Luptáková,P.
Krnác, J.Homola, J.Lievaj, Z. Kocvarová) and soon after change also in
conception of work finally made the club economic situation better. Today the number
of club´s members is close to 100. They daily visit the gym in Detva, The
School Sport Gymnastic Centre was founded and since september works The Center
of Talented Youth. Except the trainers Nadyia and Mykola Havryshchuk, Viera Zlatonová and also
former gymnasts Gabika Fasangová-Skalová a Michaela Chebenová help to educate
new gymnastics youth. They need not wait
long for sport success. Martina Mravcová won the title Champion of Slovak
Republic in 1994,1997 and 1998(junior). As member of Slovak representative team
she participated in semifinal on Europe Championship in Another 3 gymnasts Janka Luptaková,Mária Homolová and Petra Mudráková are members of Slovak representative team of schoolchildren.
